You Ask: Vir, aren't you sick of being regularly questioned about why your views seem to be pro-Congress and anti-BJP? I'm extremely pro-Congress and I find nothing in your writings which suggests that you share my views. When will these Modi worshipers get over their stigma of being morons and stop pointing fingers at others? If they have their dogmatic views about their beloved 'mazboot neta, nirnayak sarkar' (really?), why can't they digest the fact that there are many others who prefer not to think like them?

P.S. I don't really expect an answer for this overtly rhetorical question. I guess a smiley or any other apt emoticon would suffice. :-)

Vir answers:

This morning in the NDTV studio, Mukul Kesavan and I thought of a new acronym for Modi's brand of politics: DAD.

It stands for Death And Development.

Now I shall sit back and wait for the hate mail.

As individuals, not as communities or religions. One of India’s problems is that we think too much in terms of groups and not enough in terms of individuals.

I agree that Shashtriji deserves more credit though I am not sure that his greatest contribution to Indian politics consisted of his fight against Casteism.

That’s a tough one. It has become very difficult to do business in India if you want to be completely honest. It is easy for people like me to sit and sermonize but then, we don’t run businesses.

All bigots thrive on publicity. I often think the best way to handle the likes of Thackeray is to make fun of them and not to take them too seriously.

To be fair to Amit, his argument is that in the late 1980s when nobody else was speaking up for him, Bal Thackeray stood by him. I think he feels a sense of personal obligation.
